MAINTENANCE

Our core range is manufactured using advanced technological processes, enlisting CNC machinery to ensure precision and strength. All products are finished by hand and undergo stringent quality checks during production. Our furniture is constructed from kiln dried solid oak and oak veneer, to ensure structural integrity and stability.

To prolong the life of your Beynon furniture we advise the following:

NATURAL WOOD

Our oiled finish is used to enhance the natural variations in oak including grain, knots, shading and medullary rays.

Oak samples shown on the website are indicative only and may not accurately represent the wood finish. We recommend you order a wood sample from us before placing your order.

Wood is a natural material and each piece will have a slightly different grain pattern. Variation in colour, shading and grain between different products and within the same product can occur; this is a normal feature of natural wood furniture.

Use a soft lint-free cloth to gently dust your furniture. Use a clean, very slightly damp cloth to remove finger marks. The use of detergents is not recommended.

For regular maintenance, use a damp cloth or sponge with clean water, wiping down the whole surface as one. When done correctly, this procedure should deal with any small hairline scratches; daily wear and tear and dust build up. Do not concentrate cleaning or wiping on small patches/areas of the product.

In the event of an accidental spill, blot the excess immediately. Do not try to remove the stain with excessive water or detergent. We do not recommend the use of silicon or spray polishes. They may leave a residue on the surface of your furniture that affects its appearance.

If your furniture becomes stained, scratched chipped or suffers other damage we recommend professional help is sought to restore it.

Wooden furniture is not water resistant. Do not put wet dishes or cups onto any surface. Always use a mat or coaster for protection. Spills on the furniture must be removed immediately using a cloth to minimise staining. Once the immediate spillage is cleared, ensure that the whole surface is wiped clean.

Do not use spirits, bleaches or any other chemical cleaners to clean the timber. Do not use abrasives on the veneer surface.

HEAT AND LIGHT

All timber will display movement from season to season due to changes in atmospheric temperature and humidity. Do not have your furniture too close to direct heat or air conditioning and avoid changes in humidity.A minimum of 30cm clearance from heat sources is advised.

Wooden products change colour with exposure to both natural and electric light. Rotate any ornaments to avoid patches of colour where the object has stood. Direct sunlight will cause the colour of real wood to change, this will be more readily apparent if the furniture is placed under a window.

Wooden furniture is not heat resistant. Do not put hot dishes or cups on to any cabinet. Always use an insulated mat or coaster for protection.

ASSEMBLY AND ALIGNMENT

It is essential that your furniture is positioned on a level surface to ensure doors hang correctly and units are connected correctly. Adjustable feet are recommended for units placed directly on the floor to ensure configurations are properly aligned. Plinths are already provided with adjustable feet.

Do not place heavy items on open flap doors. The hinges are not designed for excessive weight, or for use as a table surface.

The only Beynon unit suitable for use as seating is the BS3 Bench, which has been purposely constructed for this use. For your own safety, do not sit on any other Beynon unit or configuration.

If doors fail to operate smoothly, or the product is moved, adjustment and leveling should be checked. Periodically check all fixings to ensure they have not come loose and re-tighten where necessary.

Please take care when handling or moving the furniture as handling may cause damage or injury. Never drag furniture when moving it, always lift it.

Following the guidelines above will ensure product performance is maintained. Beynon is not responsible for defects caused by misuse. No liability will be accepted for damage or injury caused by incorrectly installed or assembled furniture.

WALL ANCHORING

To increase the safety in your home all Beynon furniture configurations above 750mm in height should be anchored to the wall. Wall anchoring hardware is included with each Beynon purchase, however safe installation of this hardware is the responsibility of the customer.Installation of the wall-anchoring device is strongly recommended for chests of drawers, cabinets and bookcases.

Please note the following:

The wall-anchoring device must not be modified or changed in any way.

The wall-anchoring device is only intended for use with the product it accompanies.

For optimum function, the wall-anchoring device should be mounted in accordance with the recommendations contained in the enclosed assembly instructions.

You will need to choose a screw or fitting which is suitable for securing the bracket to the kind of walls you have. If you are unsure about what type of screw to use, please contact your local hardware store.

The furniture's tendency to tip is affected to a large extent by the type of floor it stands on. Furniture is more stable when it stands on a level wooden floor.
